Postmarks are unique and fascinating as stamps themselves. According to the Chinese calendar, the year 2022 will be the Year of the Water Tiger (壬寅 rén yín). “寅特別邮便” refers to special delivery in the year of Water Tiger (2022).

About 消毒｜厄运退散

Nowadays, contemporary postmark might include locations, time & date, advertisement, slogan or certain message (promotional postmark).

Back in 1900s, there was an epidemic continued for several years in Japan. Mails that addressed to the Palace were not allowed to delivered directly and were first sent to the disinfection station to take special measures. A special postmark that includes the words "disinfected" - means that "all stamped mails were disinfected during the transfer from acceptance to delivery of mail".

Inspired by the similar concept, this postmark includes words such as 消毒 (disinfected/sanitised) and 厄运退散 (Farewell, bad luck!) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that has been around us in the last 2 years.
