About Hitomi Hiraoka 平岡瞳
Hiraoka Hitomi is a Japanese printmaking artist known for her woodblock landscapes depicting the quiet beauty of mountains, seas, skies, and townscapes. She began her printmaking journey while studying design at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, later expanding her work into illustration, book covers, magazines, and children’s books.
Her artwork blends the boldness of carved relief with intricate details, layering deep indigo tones, soft gradients, and monochrome contrasts to create compositions filled with warmth and tranquility. Through her work, she continues to explore the timeless, nostalgic charm of handcrafted printmaking.
