OURS Research Project Journal 2027: The Reunion

Inspired by the Japanese concept of 自由研究 (jiyu kenkyu), a “free research project” assigned to elementary school students during summer vacation. This journal reimagines that spirit of curiosity as a year-long creative study.

Think of it as your personal one-year project: an exploration of life, luck, and the little fortunes that unfold along the way.

A Year of Reunion

OURS celebrates its 10th anniversary with the 2027 theme “The Reunion / 相聚”. It is a story about the people, everyday moments, and little exchanges that stay with us over time.

The cover artwork was inspired by the maker's everyday ritual of making jam. Roses, lychees, cherries, apples and lemons come together in a warm, nostalgic composition, much like the way fresh moments are preserved and slowly become memories.

The 2027 notebook continues OURS's signature approach to journaling, giving you space to record the ordinary things worth remembering. From weekly plans and monthly overviews to dedicated pages for collecting small pieces of everyday life, it is designed to become a journal that grows with you throughout the year.

The notebook uses Mori Kaze paper, a new paper stock selected for this year's edition. It has a soft, airy feel with fine colour reproduction and a comfortable thickness for everyday writing.

The cover also features two different card-slot sizes, allowing you to personalise your notebook with different cards, such as Instax photos, some standard business cards, collectible photo cards and postcards.

Cover with Interchangeable Inserts

The PVC cover includes two card slots (small and large), perfect for swapping postcards, photos, or mini prints. Refresh your journal’s look throughout the year to match your mood or the changing seasons.

Note about paper

This year's edition uses a brand-new paper stock, MORI KAZE (森風) paper. It has a soft, slightly voluminous texture with fine, delicate colour reproduction, while maintaining a comfortable thickness for everyday writing.

MORI KAZE is a new paper stock that OURS wanted to explore this year, and the paper has also undergone testing to ensure its suitability for the notebook. For more details about the paper testing, please refer to the OURS Instagram post.
